Asia a place of stark contrasts.
From ultra modern and highly developed states where people enjoy high standards of living (Japan, Singapore, South Korea), to some of the poorer nations in the world (Afghanistan, Laos, East Timor). From world’s largest democracy (India) to countries on the opposite ends of the democratic spectrum (North Korea, China and Afghanistan). From hustle and bustle of the largest cities in the world (Tokyo, Beijing, Mumbai) to tranquil, tropical beaches (The Philippines, Malaysia, Maldives).
Here, you will find the best, and most diverse food on the planet. Here, you will also find the world’s oldest religions – Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism, Shinto, etc. Asia is where 60 percent of world’s humanity lives. While it is not always easy, travelling in Asia is always deeply rewarding like nowhere else.
I had the opportunity to backpack in Asia (Hong Kong, China, Laos, Thailand and India) for a year and work and travel in Central Asia for a year. It is a place that I miss terribly if I don’t visit for a couple of years.
Asia is not just a continent but the entire universe unto its own.
